API 610 PUMPS

INTRODUCTION
Objective of API Standards
To identify and support proven, sound engineering and operating practices, and safe, interchangeable equipment and materials, for use in the petroleum industry, and assure broad availability of standards for such procedures, equipment and materials.

Objective of API 610
To establish minimum requirements for centrifugal pumps for use in petroleum, heavy-duty chemical, and gas industry services

Application of API 610
Petroleum Refineries
Petrochemical, and chemical Industry
Other demanding process

MAJOR DESIGN FEATURES

CASING
Designed as ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code (Para. 2.2.1)

Minimum radial roads by concentric or double volute design

300# and 600# Flanges, RF and FF

Available in complete range of alloys

3 mm Corrosion allowance (Para. 2.2.3)

Cast-on rotation arrow

For concentric casings, fully machined for high efficiency

IMPELLER
Precision cast impeller of high efficiency

Fully enclosed, single suction type (Para. 2.5.1)

Dynamically balanced to grade G1.0 (Para. 2.8.4)

Balancing holes for low axial thrust

Available in complete range of alloys

Keyed to shaft and secured by bolt and nut

WEARING RINGS

Back Side
Front Side
Secured by an interference fit and positioned with pin or set screws
Back wearing rings decrease the seal chamber pressure for longer seal life.
Front wearing rings prevent internal recirculation for high efficiency.

SEAL CHAMBER
Fully Metal-to-Metal contact with casing prevents
misalignment between pump and motor shaft.

Confined spiral wound gasket for proper sealing

Most alloys can be cast.

Available cooling and heating jacket

API 682 seal chamber accommodates various seal
configuration.

A full complement of API 610 seal flush plans
BEARING HOUSING
Finned cooling option for efficient water cooling

Dimples for vibration measurement (Para. 2.8.3.2)

Bulls eye sight glass allows positive verification

OIL CLEANING DEVICE
Outboard
Inboard
Labyrinth type seals retain oil in bearing housing and contaminants are excluded by deflectors for greater bearing life.
Oil seals and deflectors are replaceable and non-sparking material. (Para. 2.9.2.
SHAFT ASSEMBLY
Shaft stiffness limits deflection to 50¥ìm at the primary seal face under the most severe conditions. (Para. 2.5.7)

Speed factor, Ndm not to exceed 500,000
(dm = mean bearing diameter, (D+d)/2,mm Para. 2.9.1)

Thrust bearings are secured to the shaft by a lock-nut and lock-washer and placed in the frame by housing cover. (Para. 2.9.1.3)
Bearings are sized to exceed required bearing life at max. loads and rated speed.
